MEET
ARUN RANCHOD

A recovering healthcare technology business executive, Arun enjoys bringing his multi-instrumental joy for music to audiences.

Introduced to classical music by his parents, Arun started taking classical piano lessons at age four. His mother would set the oven timer to 45 minutes every weekday after school and that was dedicated practice time. His father would listen to classical records on Sundays and give commentary about the piece, the composer and the history of classical composition. He would also sing songs from his childhood while doing chores around the house.

Arun took classical piano lessons until age 18, when he went to college. Without a musical instrument accessible for the first time in 14 years, he went a little nuts. This was solved in 1983 when he went to see an Eric Clapton concert at Blossom Music Center. "I didn't understand what Clapton was doing, I just knew that I wanted to do THAT!" He took his savings and bought his first guitar. The salesman felt sorry for him and threw in an old guitar case and an Eagles songbook for free. He learned to play guitar by studying the chord charts in the songbook.

Arun has played at various open mic nights, in the band Rasperbloom at the Ellwood City Arts and Crafts Festival, at the West Side block party, at the Seneca Terrace Assisted living facility and other venues.
